Ginger Burke Scholarship
Ginger Burke was the founder of the Royal Academy of Ballet. Her love for youth ballet and her selfless dedication to the dance community was the inspiration for the creation of the Greater Buffalo Youth Ballet.
What the Scholarship Awards
While dancing with the Greater Buffalo Youth Ballet, the scholarship pays a part of the dancer’s tuition for one dance season (September – June) at the Royal Academy of Ballet.
Requirements
To be considered for the scholarship, all applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled in a minimum of two ballet classes per week at the Royal Academy of Ballet and Dance
- Be between 10-18 years old
- Complete a short essay
- Fill out the scholarship form
- Attend the audition class
- Submit the registration fee
Important Dates
- May 1, 2026 – Application and Essay are due
- May 2, 2026 – Registration 6:15 pm / Audition class held at Royal Academy of Ballet and Dance – 7:30-8:30 pm
- Bring the $10.00 audition class fee* to the audition class.
- Check payable to: The Greater Buffalo Youth Ballet
How to Apply
Complete the online scholarship form, which includes background information and attach your essay describing why applicants are auditioning for the scholarship, how the scholarship will help further their dance aspirations, and why they should be considered for this honor.
How the Scholarship is Awarded
Award recipients will be notified by e-mail and announced at the June recital. Scholarships are be awarded in September for the upcoming dance season (September-June).

Before filling out the form below, you must complete a short essay explaining why you are auditioning for the scholarship. Include how the scholarship will help you further your dance aspirations and why you should be considered for this honor. Attach your essay to the form below (pdf or Word doc).
To be considered for the scholarship, you must:
- Be currently enrolled in a minimum of two ballet classes per week at the Royal Academy of Ballet and Dance
- Be between 10-18 years old
- Complete and attach a short (200 word minimum) essay (pdf or word doc) explaining why you are auditioning for the scholarship
- Attend the audition class
